Before we can talk about whining behavior and how to prevent it, let’s speak about the personality of a German Shepherd in general.

German Shepherd puppies don’t reach maturity until they are three years’ old. It is an excellent plan to start German Shepherd puppy training when the puppy is about four months’ old. This will be great fun for the pet and lets it engage in play and social interaction but also has an important function of instructing what is acceptable conduct and what is unacceptable behavior. The puppy phase is a good time for your canine to learn a lot.

One thing you will notice is that the German Shepherd is naturally aggressive. Training needs to be done before the pet becomes too close to the master that it treats others unemotionally. Mingling should be a part of the training. The good news is it can be amusing to train with active and smart puppies.

If you want to get rid of anxious conduct, teach your dog about separation and why it’s not a huge deal. Training your puppy to deal with your absence is necessary. When you leave, your puppy should be told to do something else like lie in the crate or go in another room. Ignore your dog when you are leaving so that there’s no drama around your coming and leaving.

Let the time of separation be a part of your routine. When you get home, you may want to walk around with your puppy rather than acting like you just got home. Don’t fret about the times when you think this type of training is not working. Your German Shepherd will learn soon enough what you want to happen. What’s important is you maintain a level of authority that will make you the boss of your dog. Your well-trained German Shepherd will soon manage to house sit for you while you’re not home.
