What can you give a dog for pain

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Tuesday 29 March 2011 at 12:17 am

Among all pets, dogs are possibly the ones given the most love and attention. Dogs may not have the ability to complain but an observant pet owner would know if the dog is in pain. Dogs are uncomplaining animals but a discerning owner would be aware of what the dog feels. Vets are the experts in these matters but an owner that has closely bonded with the pet would be more attuned to what the dog is feeling. Undoubtedly, a vet would know at a glance if the dog is in pain but the bond people have with their pets make them highly attuned to what the dog feels. No dog owner would want to see the pet hurting thus it is common for owners to reach for a medication that gives them pain relief and medicate the pet themselves. Customarily, a dog owner wanting to alleviate the pain of the pet would administer his/her own medication for pain. Although dogs can suffer from the same diseases that afflicts humans it is not advisable to give the pet human medications for pain relief. Just as it is not advisable to share medications, it is also not wise to give a dog human medication in spite of the fact that these animals are afflicted with human diseases too.

Dogs are commonly debilitated by short term or chronic pain. Acute or temporary pain can result from surgery or from injuries that damage bones and muscles of the dog. Surgery and injuries that damage the bones and the muscles are often times the cause of acute and temporary pains. Chronic or persistent pains are most common in older dogs with musculoskeletal concerns. Musculoskeletal problems are the common causes of chronic and persistent pain in older dogs. It is your job to provide the pet relief from pain. Owners are duty bound to give the pet medications that will alleviate the pain. Dogs in pain can be given analgesics, the drugs that relieve all kinds of pains. To relieve any kind of pain, analgesics are commonly given to dogs.

There are several alternatives by which a dog’s pain can be alleviated. In veterinary facilities, these pain medications are usually given intravenously or through injections. In animal hospitals the pain medication is either injected or given through IVs. Home treatments calls for oral administration of pain medications. Oral pain medications are given to pets that are being treated at home. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications that were originally formulated for humans are also given to dogs. It has been the habit of pet owners to give a dog in pain non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that were specifically formulated for humans. Although these NSAIDs can cause stomach and intestinal bleeding, they are given to the pets as they are effective in giving the dog relief from pain. These NSAIDs are effective pain medications but they are noted to cause stomach and intestinal bleeding in dogs. NSAIDs that were newly formulated were proven to be more pet friendly. Recently formulated NSAIDs are safer for pets. Metacam, Mobic and Rimadyl can alleviate the pain without causing intestinal bleeding. Examples of these newer pain medications that do not cause intestinal bleeding are Mobic, Rimadyl and Metacam. Narcotic medications are also given to dogs for their pain relieving capabilities. To alleviate pain, dogs are also given narcotic medications. With humans, narcotics can cause addiction. Prolonged use of narcotics results to addiction in humans. Fortunately addiction is not a problem with dogs. Luckily, addiction is not possible in dogs.

Arthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain. Dog Gone Pain (DGP) is considered by pet owners as one of the most effective medications that can immediately ease the pet’s pain. One effective medication for chronic pain is Dog Gone Pain. Joint inflammation causes the dog debilitating pain. Inflamed joints can give the dog severe pain. Corticosteroids have very little pain relief capability but these are effective anti-inflammatory medications. Corticosteroids does not have noteworthy pain relief abilities but these are effective anti inflammatory medications.

Dogs are well regarded pets because of the way they have made human life so much better. You have a lot of choices to help the pet but be sure that the one you have chosen would not only give pain relief but one that would safe for the dog as well. You as an owner would think of helping the ailing pet but be sure to make the right choice – a choice that will not only give the dog pain relief but one that will be safe for the dog as well .

Why Does A Dog Lick Its Butt

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Thursday 24 March 2011 at 5:33 pm

Licking is a natural behavior that dogs learn from puppyhood. Dogs cannot talk but they have an effective way of showing their affection to people they like. Dogs lick to communicate with humans and with other dogs as well. A mother dog licks the puppies clean. Mother dogs would lick the puppies not only to show affection but to stimulate defecation and urination.

Dogs are often seen licking their butts. Apparently, this kind of licking is not done as a show of affection nor is it a way of expressing themselves. A dog with the body all contorted to be able to reach and to lick the rear end would be amusing to watch. But this is for certain, an owner will not be happy if the pet that has been licking its anal area would give him sloppy kisses.

A mother dog will lick the puppy after it has urinated or defecated. Butt licking can be an ingrained habit that was learned by the dog from its mother. Dogs use their long raspy tongue for grooming purposes. Hand shaking is for humans while butt sniffing is for dogs. Humans wash their hands and dogs lick to make sure that the smell and traces of feces will be removed from their rear end. Dog owners are aware that dogs love anything that people find repulsive. People love dogs but these pets’ habit of eating feces and rolling in rotting animals is a big turn off. Given the dog’s partiality to feces and smelly things, the habit to lick butts is understandable.

A foreign body in the anal area can be the reason why the dog would lick its butt. Dogs are indiscriminate eaters thus cloths, plastics, strings and many other non-edible things will be eaten. Because these objects cannot be digested, the dog will excrete these things in their original form. The indigestible object will not be totally excreted so that the dog will lick its butt to remove the dangling thing from its anus.

The pain and uncomfortable feeling associated with an impacted anal gland will make a dog lick its butt. Normally, the anal glands will be emptied when the dog defecates but because of low quality commercial food, soft stools are formed and results to the impaction of the anal glands. Bacteria will build up if the anal glands are impacted. The dog will suffer pain and discomfort if the anal glands are impacted. A dog with an impacted anal gland will scoot and lick the anal area in an effort to ease the pain and discomfort.

Your Canine’s Health

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Wednesday 23 March 2011 at 10:24 pm

For dogs as for people, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. For a dog, this doesn’t mean annual mammograms or cholesterol screening. However, it does mean regular visits to the vet, a sound diet, good dental hygiene and many other processes similar to what people need. If you’ve never considered providing preventive health care for your pup, take a look at a few areas you can starts with, and then go out and do further research on your own, starting with contacting your trusted vet.

Of course, one of the first things you can do to help your dog stay healthy is to make sure he has the correct dog medications. Right away, you must ensure that he gets or has had the necessary vaccines. Not only will this provide your pup with protection, but it’ll prevent you from catching things like rabies from him, too. Don’t forget to make sure that you keep up with his necessary prescriptions. Do not leave out some kind of meds for heartworm, plus a prescription to stave off fleas and ticks. Your dog doesn’t enjoy those little biters any more than you do, and he’ll parade them right into your house if you’re not careful.

Second, be sure that your animal has a balanced diet. There are many brands of dog food out there right now, but not all of them are a good idea for your beloved pet. The wrong brands can make him sick, even deathly ill. Others merely don’t provide him with all of the nutrients he needs to live a long, happy life. Pay careful attention to the meat, grain and fat content of the brand you feed your dog. He must eat enough protein. Unlike humans, dogs can’t truly be vegetarians. They’re born carnivores. Many people now advocate giving dogs entirely grain free dog food, since that may better resemble what they’d eat if they weren’t domesticated. No matter what brand you consider purchasing, make sure to do your research and read reviews, in addition to talking to your vet.

Finally, don’t neglect your dog’s bones and nervous system. Various types of purebred dogs have been so inbred over time that they regularly end up with problems like arthritis, bone and joint pain, or tooth and gum conditions. Right from the start, you may want to buy your dog a good bed, like one of these, to keep him comfortable. You should also read up on his particular breed to see what health problems are endemic to his breed.

Giving the dog a pill the easy way

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Sunday 20 March 2011 at 3:50 pm

Being a pet parent entails a lot of responsibilities to guarantee the health of the pet. All dog owners must know how to give the dog a pill as dogs, like humans, get sick. Sick dogs would need pills only for a time and the arduous task will be over when the dog recovers from the ailment. Dogs need vitamins and supplement too thus an owner not armed with easy pilling techniques has to wrestle with the dog everyday. How to give a pill to a dog

A dog that spews the pill or eludes the master makes pilling even more difficult. Dogs are cunning animals so that even if the pill is hidden inside a treat, the treat will be eaten and the pill spewed out. Because dogs would not understand that the pill would make him well, it would be up to the owner to learn how to make pill giving a little easier.

An owner would be fortunate to have a dog that would willingly take a pill. Dogs though are cunning animals and it would be a simple matter to spew the pill once the master’s back is turned. If your dog has this kind of attitude, the obvious thing that must be done is to watch the dog for while until you are sure that the pill was swallowed.

Giving the dog a pill will be easier if the bitter taste of the pill is disguised by the taste of the dog’s favorite food. This can be done by mixing a little amount of food with the crushed pill or with the liquid medication. However, this technique can only be done if the pet is not under dietary restriction. A pet owner can take advantage of the dog’s inclination to gobble its food by hiding the pill in the dog’s favorite foods.

Sick dogs are harder to pill as they usually refuse to eat. Mixing the pill with the dog’s food would not be a good idea. The pill must be placed directly on the dog’s mouth. Dogs accustomed to teeth brushing would not make a fuss if the mouth is opened. The mouth must be opened so that the pill can be inserted at the base of the tongue. Make sure that the teeth are covered by the flews to prevent the dog from biting your hand. Gently blow on the nose and rub the throat to encourage the dog to swallow the pill.

What can I give my dog for constipation

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Sunday 20 March 2011 at 1:27 am

Dogs indeed have many similarities with humans as these animals, like their human friends get constipated too. The dog would repeatedly ask to be taken out but to the consternation of the tired owner, the dog will just circle around, sniff the ground but be unable to produce stool. The pet’s inability to defecate will be the owners concern too. Naturally, the dog will be weighed down by the uncomfortable felling associated with the inability to defecate. On the other hand, the owner that needs to take the dog outside will be concerned with the obvious discomfort felt by the pet. Constipation can be remedied easily. Inability to defecate is a common concern.

Normally, the dog’s inability to pass stool will be resolve after a day or two. Dogs that get constipated will be troubled by the same concern again and again thus it would be necessary for the dog owner to avoid the concerns that lead to the constipation of the pet. Constipation can be associated with the slowing down of the system of older people and as dogs are very similar to the genetics of humans, the dog’s constipation can be caused by this concern too. The dog’ indiscriminate eating habits can be the reason for the constipation as the inedible object ingested may be creating a blockage.

Constipation is common in long haired breeds as dried up feces that mats the hair around the anus blocks the anal opening. Constipation in this case can be easily remedied by clipping the hair around the anal area. Constipation can be due to the dog’s diet. Ideally, a dog’s diet should have about 13% fiber but inexpensive poor quality commercial food does not meet this requirement so that the dog will be constipated. You can give canned pumpkin or add a about a tablespoon of bran to the wet food of the pet. To resolve the constipation of the try adding a tablespoon of mineral oil to the dog’s dry food.

Water is essential to a healthy digestive system thus low water intake can result to constipation. Dogs love to eat but a lot of these animals don’t love to drink water . Sufficient water intake is necessary to prevent constipation thus the dog must be encouraged to drink water. The bouts of constipation may be due to lack of exercise. Exercise can be the simple solution to the dog’s inability to poop.

Dogs have this habit of not soiling their sleeping area. A dog that is not taken out by the master will put off doing its business. The longer the stool is kept inside, the harder it will become. The pet must be provided with regular potty time. A doggy door will enable the pet to go out every time it needs to go.

Is Puppy Potty Training Easy?

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Friday 18 March 2011 at 3:40 pm

Even the most confident, “got it together” person can be reduced to tears when trying to learn puppy potty training. Just when you think you are going well, it all goes wrong. There is a puppy who thinks you are it’s parent and is eager to learn from you. The problem is that you are not (but you have to behave as one).

One popular method is to use a specified peeing / pooping area. Normally this will often be a fenced off area in your back yard. Many apartment owners work with an area inside the bathroom which is well protected with paper. It will depend on your own circumstances. When you’ve got that set up you’ll be ready to bring in some form of regimen.

Many people reside in apartments but still need to have a place for their pups to relieve themselves. If you think about it, virtually every cat owner possesses a cat litter  tray in their home. Now I’m sure that using a doggy toilet area inside your home is not ideal but some individuals situations mean that this is the only method available. It’s pretty obvious that the spot has to be well ventilated.

A bathroom may well be the best choice here as it’ll probably have a hard washable floor too. You can purchase dog litter (similar to the cat stuff but you need more of it!). A few people use ordinary newspaper although there could be an embarrassing unwanted effect here. The most suitable stuff is unprinted newsprint paper that has similar absorbent benefits minus the side effects. Why should you not use normal newspaper? Basically, the puppy can connect potty time with newspaper (any newspaper) and unfortunately could see every paper as a potential toilet (even if it has just come through the letterbox). It can be incredibly embarrassing in someone else’s house. As soon as you get the best place sorted out you’re able to move onto showing your pup the significance of it.

This may be looked upon as one of the most useful puppy potty training tips you’ll hear  The easiest way is always to encourage them to associate going to that area with going to the toilet. This can be done by taking them into it whenever they show warnings of wanting to go. Try to look for circling or sniffing the ground, suddenly halting playing and walking away, spinning around in circle with their backs arched and  clear sign) sniffing at the scene of a previous accident. Perhaps you may presume you’ve cleaned it away but the puppy will still be able to smell it and will try to go in precisely the same place.

You then take them over to the doggy toilet and let them do what they do. You then praise them. Do this every time and they will rapidly learn that this is what you desire. They will not question why, they will just associate going in the right place with praise (and maybe treats).   This needs to be carried out a relaxed way as you don’t want to get them too excited. When they get too excited, they will get tense then cannot go. This clearly, defeats the point of the exercise. You must therefore, retain a calm appearance to help your dog relax enough to relieve itself.

Time intervals will vary a lot according to the puppy’s age. For instance, when they are aged up to say fourteen weeks, you could be looking at possibly eight to ten breaks per day. This will scale down to perhaps half of that once the pup is aged about thirty weeks. When they’re young, they aren’t physically developed enough to hold themselves in for very long. For this reason they need to be taken outside perhaps every two hours or so. You need to pay particular attention to the period after eating or drinking because these are common “toilet times”. Realistically, they can only hold themselves for an hour or so  for every month of age. Put simply they will not really last through the night.

It sounds unusual but many puppy owners maintain a written record of when the puppy “goes”. This gives them an improved idea of the puppy’s natural bodily rhythms. The main items to note are eating, sleeping and going to the toilet. Pet owners find it simpler to work out the relationship between the events, which certainly makes sense. It could in addition, identify a few medical problems when the puppy starts to break with these standard times.

The next step is when your puppy feels the need to go and realises if they come to tell you (or even go straight to the potty area) they get praise. Usually, this involves scratching the door, barking or whining. In time they will probably head straight for their potty. You are suddenly making big progress. Keep the praise going, even if there are some mishaps.

Here’s what you must be careful of when learning puppy potty training If you shout at or scold the pup they’ll think you are cross about them going to the toilet, as opposed to going in the wrong place. A simple detail but a world of difference. In closing, there are three stages. One, establish the zone. Two, get the puppy to associate visiting the zone with going to the toilet. Three, get them to associate wanting to go to the toilet with going to the area to carry it out.

How best to train Your dog

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Wednesday 16 March 2011 at 1:57 pm

Dogs aren’t like humans, so they need to learn in a variety of ways. Dogs don’t have human responses, meaning that it normally won’t operate using the principle of right or wrong. Instead, they operate on a principle of response, guided by the actions you give them. If their actions lead to a bad response from you, chances are they do not know what they are doing is wrong and will avoid doing that type of behavior.

When your dog does something right, he should be praised for it. When your Golden Retriever is paying attention to everything you say and doing well, you should reward him with a treat or praise. Letting him know that he is doing good leads to positive response. On the other hand, if he isn’t paying attention to you or doing the total opposite of what you say, you shouldn’t reward him in any way – but instead scold him with a stern NO.

With Golden Retriever training, timing is an essential factor. If your dog is doing something wrong, you shouldn’t wait or hesitate to correct him. Doing this may send the incorrect impression. When your Golden is performing something wrong, you must correct him immediately, so he will know undoubtedly what he’s doing wrong.

For example, in the event your Golden Retriever is chasing cars, you obviously need to stop this habit before it gets it beyond control. As soon as you see him carrying this out, you should always stop him and acknowledge hes wrong. By doing this, he will realize that chasing cars is something he shouldn’t be doing. It may take a little bit of time for him to understand this, and you’ll need to hold your ground and continue to keep correcting him when he is doing something you don’t approve of.

This type of theory is comparable to that of praise. When you see your Golden Retriever doing something right, you need to praise him instantly. If you don’t praise him instantly and instead hold back until he has stopped, he will assume that you’ll be praising him for stopping. To be on the safe side and get the most from your Golden Retriever, you should praise him when he’s behaving in the right way, then correct him when he is behaving in a negative way.

Invest the your time and effort and show patience with your Golden Retriever, you shouldn’t have any problems training him. The training process might take a large amount of time, although it is more than worth it in the long run. Once you have trained your Golden Retriever, he’ll respond to everything you say, and steer clear of doing those things he’s been corrected for. Training a Golden Retriever is essential  and will make him a much better dog when he grows older.

Golden Retriever Puppy Biting Problems

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Monday 14 March 2011 at 4:50 pm

We all know how cute puppies are, especially Golden Retriever ones. However, we are all guilty of mistaking them biting us as cuteness. Many owners mistake this biting as harmless, when in reality this biting can evolve into aggression problems in adulthood. You must therefore, ensure that you get rid of your Golden Retriever puppy biting issue immediately.

The majority of Golden Retriever puppies will learn from their siblings that biting is bad, primarily because they will get bitten back if they bite. This usually happens around eight weeks of age. If the biting doesn’t stop after this point then it can become very troublesome to stop them biting.….

Golden Retriever Puppy Biting Problems: The younger the better

It is very important to stop your Golden Retriever puppy biting as soon as you recognise it. If you have just got your puppy and it is younger than eight weeks old then now is the time to proceed.

Firstly, never hit your Golden when you get bit. They can become scared of you when you do this, and it can lead to aggression problems later on.

Every effect has a cause, and the best way to deal with biting is to deal with the root cause. One way to do this is to use the old classic ‘stick and carrot’ method. The basic model of this is to reinforce and reward good behaviour and discourage bad behaviour. This doesn’t denote punishing them!

Avoid any form of physical games with your puppy as this will encourage aggressive behaviour. The main aim is to be consistent in your actions. If you encourage playing rough one week and then the next week you don’t your puppy will get confused which could cause other issues later in their lives.

Golden Retriever Puppy Biting: Education

One of the best ways to stop your Golden Retriever puppy biting is to enrol them in some form of obedience class. In these classes there are trainers that can mimic your puppy’s mothers behaviour in response to biting. This is also great Golden Retriever exercise.

Socialization classes are a very good way to help your dog become used to being around other dogs. This also helps to decrease hostility and worry issues.

One great way to train your dog properly is to redirect the biting behaviour. This can be accomplished by giving them a chew toy.

You can teach your dog that biting is unacceptable by simply displaying pain whenever you are bit. This mimics the way dogs whine whenever they are hurt and signifies that this isn’t playing.

Sometimes training a Golden Retriever can seem hard.It is very easy to train your dog when it’s young to stop biting as they are open to learning. By 10 weeks old your Golden Retriever puppy biting days should be over. This will cause much less tension in later life as it can grow to be much more difficult, although not impossible as the dog gets older and develops behavior.

What methods can be used to discipline a dog

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Saturday 12 March 2011 at 11:25 pm

In spite of the renowned canine intelligence, dog’s understanding is not at par with what humans have. A dog will not understand the reason why it was punished and vanished to a crate by jumping on an all dolled up master when jumping and giving sloppy kisses is its usual way of greeting.

How will you go about disciplining a dog to corrects its undesirable habits of barking and chewing excessively, of raiding trash cans and eating spoiled food, of tormenting smaller pets? Dogs can easily read our facial expressions and understand the meaning or our body movements. A dog that had destroyed your favorite $500 bag will slink under the table when it sees the anger in your face. The repentant look of the pet is not an assurance that destruction of shoes, bags and other things will not happen again. Unless you do something to discipline the dog, the undesirable act will be repeated again. Screaming at the dog or inflicting physical punishment would never be a good idea more so if the punishment was given after the destructive deed was done. Correcting the bad habit of the dog will never be accomplished if the punishment is given after the dog has been destructive.

It is necessary to make the dog understand that human are the leaders of the pack. Dogs must be trained to follow the commands of humans. Training would do a lot in preventing development of inappropriate behavior. Training would be more successful if conducted while the dog is still a puppy. In a firm and clear voice, teach the dog to obey commands that will modify a wrong behavior.

One effective way if disciplining the dog is to make the dog hate doing the destructive behavior . A spray bottle filled with cold water and Bitter Apple are effective tools that disciplines the dog not to manifest a destructive behavior.

It would be best to reprimand and correct the dog while the destructive act is being committed. As soon as the dog is seen about to do one of its destructive acts give a STOP or NO command. Disciplining the dog cannot be accomplished at once but consistent training that is reinforced with lots of praise and treats will eventually modify the dogs unwanted behavior.

Innovative Surgical Procedure Fixes Dog Injuries

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Friday 11 March 2011 at 4:41 pm

The surprisingly affordable TPLO surgery, or tibial plateau leveling osteotomy surgery, offered by veterinary medical centers including Downtown Animal Care Center in Denver, Colorado, is currently one of the most favored manners for repairing injured cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in canines.

There are an assortment of reasons that canines experience CCL injuries. Some of the more typical reasons that canines rupture their CCLs include the following:

  • They are overweight. 75% of dogs are overweight, and their additional weight puts extraordinary stress on their “knee” joint and the rest of their bodies.
  • They lack exercise. Because canine owners tend to work five-day weeks, pets do not receive the sort of exercise they need to maintain healthy bodies. Although dog owners might be tempted to idle after a stressful day at work, these individuals must realize that their pet pals require a bunch of exercise in order to keep their bodies lean, flexible, and strong.
  • They suffer from “Weekend Warrior Syndrome,” meaning that they only exercise during weekends, making them more vulnerable to injuries when they are over-exercised on the weekends.

CCL injuries might also result simply because of the composition of the dog’s body. Dogs’ “knee” joints are always angled, and as a result, their CCLs are constantly subject to stress from their bodies’ weight. This perpetual stress resulting from canines’ weight makes their CCLs more vulnerable to injury.

Low cost TPLO surgery has been designed to fix CCL injuries in dogs. During affordable TPLO surgery, the veterinary doctor evaluates the degree of CCL damage in a dog’s leg, extracts any remnants of the damaged ligament in the leg, and operates on the tibia. Using a peculiar curved saw, the surgeon then makes a complete cut through the top portion of the dog’s tibial bone and rotates that cut so that the once “sloped” tibial plateau is almost entirely flat. A metal plate and screws are then positioned on the outside of the bone to hold it in place.

Dogs begin walking about 24 hours after low cost TPLO surgeries, and full mobility and exercise ability should be restored between four and six months following these surgeries. Obviously, these cheap TPLO surgeries are the alternative of preference for curing CCL injuries in dogs.

Deramaxx For Dogs Takes The Pain Away

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Thursday 10 March 2011 at 8:02 pm

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the swelling of your dog’s joints and is the most common canine skeletal disease. It is degenerative and excruciating, as the inflamed joints gradually worsen, stunting your dog’s range of, and ability for, motion. As your dog grows older, he grows more prone to this disease and might be triggered by an injury or, for a select number of breeds, have it genetically coded into them. Neglected, this disease is ultimately fatal and in the onset, can incapacitate your pet. There are effective medications to counteract the effects of OA like Deramaxx for dogs. These are ingested everyday more like a maintenance as OA is incurable.

Spotting the signs of OA is generally easy. If your dog is more reluctant to climb or go down flights of stairs or find it hard to get onto and out of vehicles, then this might not be a change in just attitude. Shorter stamina where she can no longer complete your usual jogging routes also tell the tale. She may find it hard to stretch out and move right after waking up or hobble and lean on a leg after exercise. She may want to lie down or sit more often, becoming lazy and inactive. She has difficulty sleeping and is sensitive or pained by your touch. These are all OA warning signs that you can notice. Take her to vet immediately and ask how Deramaxx for dogs can alleviate her suffering. Be mindful of these changes as these can be slight alterations in behavior that we tend to overlook until it is too late. Observe keenly as some of these changes may be misinterpreted as simply signs of old age, a popular myth in pets.

If your dog is diagnosed with OA, there’s no need to fret. Visit http://www.petmedoutlet.com and get all the help you need. With the proper pain control drug, OA can be managed, making sure your dog is as comfortable as possible. Be aware of the steps you need to take after the trip to the vet as these will dictate how well you keep OA under control. Make sure you feed her with healthy and nutritional meals that help him maintain ideal weight as additional weight can exacerbate her pain while weight loss may point to a general decline in health. Make sure she gets proper, minimal impact exercise so that she does not lose muscle mass that helps support her weight. Make sure that your activities are low-impact and does not strain or tire her out much. Keep a regular schedule of vet visits to effectively take stock of her condition and assess any other complications. Finally, show her that you love her and show with affection, she deserves it.

Dog Supplies That Will Make Your Life Easier}

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Wednesday 9 March 2011 at 6:42 pm

It’s important for owners of gun dogs to know that the tools and supplies required for hunting dogs is quite different from those required for family pets. At any given time, our pets may be kept outdoors during inclement weather, but for the most part, pets are kept indoor when bad weather presents itself. But for hunting dogs, the story changes; when they join you for hunting, they will be outdoors in all types of weather conditions. As a hunting dog owner, you will need to ensure his comfort as best as possible.

Dog Vests

The dog vest is invaluable in cold weather, keeping your dog’s core temperature more easily maintained and helping your dog stay healthy.  They are also often flotation devices, keeping your dog buoyant when swimming after that fowl or fording the stream.  These vests aren’t just fashion statements, they can be a matter of life and death for your hunting dog.  Stores that sell hunting dog supplies, including most sporting goods stores, will have good vests to choose from for your dog.

Dog Doors

If you have a fenced yard or an area that is contained, you might want to consider a dog door that will allow your dog to go outdoors without you in bad weatther. This is great for both family dogs and hunting dogs, and you’ll find that installation is very easy and your dog will be able to go outside unsupervised in no time. Safe and efficient, it will allow your dog to go outside and enter as he pleases, but won’t allow humans to enter because it simply is not big enough. Good quality dog doors are not only easy to install, but are insulated so that heat won’t leave your home. Most pet stores and hunting dog supply shops will sell many types of doggie doors.

Dog Collars

Regardless of the type of dog you have you are going to need specific supplies.  For those with hunting dogs, a dog training collar may make the difference between a well trained hunting dog and one who goes off on his own.  These correction collars can be purchased nearly any place that sells dog supplies.  For owners of hunting dogs and a tracking collar may be a necessity.  Tracking collars will typically only be sold at a store that specializes in hunting dog supplies.

Making sure that your dog regardless of whether he is a pet or hunting companion is well behaved, safe, warm, and comfortable is your responsibility.  Finding your hunting dog supplies can be done in stores or can be done online.

Posted under Chihuahua Madness by Guest Author on Tuesday 8 March 2011 at 4:28 pm

When it comes to having the top deals on anything, our dogs will probably be at the top of our own list if they have needs that we have to help them handle. It isn’t always easy to obtain a reasonable price on the most important items for them through the vet’s office since vets really are a business and they can’t always afford to offer medications for affordable prices since they are geared towards medical services rather than selling supplies. If you are looking to obtain your supply of Frontline Plus for dogs for your dog so that he or she could be free of fleas, then you certainly would like to go into the option of having it on the internet. When you try this, then you save in the double digit percentages quite easily because the outlet stores on the internet have much better prices due to the amount of bulk which they purchase their supplies in. They can offer better rates than just about any vet ever could because pet medicines are what they concentrate on and frequently that is really all they offer. Specializing like this gives them a strong level of expertise that people can all take advantage of and that’s why they’re this kind of a good source for these products, especially when we need them on a regular basis for our pet dog.

Although there is definitely a noticeable flea season in many nation, you would be wise to bear in mind that fleas can really endure in the winter months, too, in houses that don’t take care of their fleas. If you want to ensure your dog doesn’t start getting infested then you should be sure they are treated with Frontline Plus for dogs at the regularly scheduled intervals that the product advises. If you do this, then you are certain to obtain a lot better results and will be far happier because you can know that they will be secure from having to suffer from so many itching, stinging attacks making them crazy.

Buying is always likely to be so much easier for these items whenever you take the time to do it on the web so you should hunt for an outlet supply initially. When you see the visible difference in price between the pet meds you find online and those you would pay for at the vet’s, which are the same actual product from the similar brand, you will find that you pay so much less on the internet that it does not make sense to get the medication somewhere else.
